Week 5: Post-Op

Hello,

I am at Week 5 post-op and feeling great! I'm just stopping by my page a lil to give a quick update. Well, to start off I haven't weighed myself since my 2 week post-op appointment. I'm not scheduled to meet with my Dr. until July 6. At that time, I will be 8 weeks out! Whoo Hoo..

However, my reasoning for not weighing myself is to be in suspence once I hit the scale at my appointment. My goal is to be at least under 300lbs. That would be a total weight loss of 52lbs in 8 weeks. Can you believe it?? I think I will treat myself to something special for working so hard at maintaining this weight loss.

I have been doing fine on my diet so far. Been trying new things but nothing out the ordinary. I have been able to digest a little tilapia but still feel that I may need to wait a little longer. Not because I was nauseous or began vomiting. I just don't like the way it feels going down my tiny stomach. I can say I am truly one of the lucky people who have not experienced the vomiting of certain foods. As much as it may be tempting to try, I stay away only in fear of that happening to me!

I would say the most difficult thing is keeping up with the vitamins and protein intake daily. I still do my protein shakes (at least 1-2) but I eat lots and lots of other high protein foods throughout the day. Such as, tuna, fish, chicken, and cream of wheat with fiber. Of course, all meats are blenderized to a mush. Trying to stay away from sugary drinks, my intake is mostly water throughout the day (48-64ozs).  This is it for now, but until next time...LaShurta.

Week 3: Food Update

I just thought I'll drop a little preview of what I have been eating. So far, I am following my diet pretty well. Over Memorial Day weekend, I added a few new food items to my diet. This includes; soft scrambled eggs, cream of wheat, red beans, tuna (pureed), applesauce (once again), and even okra gumbo. I will say that I am loving it!

I feel I am moving away from the protein shakes (still drinking a least one a day); and finding my daily protein intake elsewhere. I've been having a deep craving for tuna and decided to try some out with a few crackers. It was such a savory flavor in my mouth!

On Saturday, my mom and I went out to eat at Shoney's and I ordered soft scrambled eggs and potato soup on the soup and salad bar; even though I couldn't eat much I was definitely satisfied once I was full. I enjoyed just sitting there with my mom holding conversation.

It just felt amazing to get out and be able to go to a resturant and not over indulge in fatty foods and feel the comfort of satiety without over doing it! I am still adjusting but I think in the end it will be all well worth it!

Week 3: Wonderful Day!

This weekend I have drove the longest distance to see my mom for Memorial day...didn't know how that was going to fair out being that it was an 8 hour drive. But all and all it was okay; not bad at all!

I work at a school district as a Speech Therapist (very demanding) and as the year comes to an end, I have been working furiously trying to wrap-up all paperwork. It was a few colleagues that haven't seen me since the surgery. Therefore, today was the first and I've gotten so many compliments on my weight loss. This really made me feel good considering that they can already see the results!

My mom also said that she can see a difference as well in my mid-section. I know now that I made the right choice to have VSG surgery. I am only looking forward to more achievements in this arena. Stay Tuned!
